Dr. Ajmal KT, the Director of Calicut Unani Hospital & Research Centre is the first degree holder in Unani from the State of Kerala. After finishing his BSc he pursued graduation in Unani from Pune University in 1992 and secured the 1st rank. He pursued his M.D. (Moalijat) in 2010 at Nashik, Maharashtra. In 2012, Dr. Ajmal was awarded the first rank in the P.G. Diploma Course in Marma and Massage conducted by the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai, TamiI Nadu, lndia.

The Unani System of Medicine was unheard of in the state of Kerala, Dr. Ajmal introduced it in Kerala & also practiced it successfully. From 1994 to 1996 he rendered his services as a Medical officer at Kasargod, Kerala. To quench his thirst and the quest to popularize Unani System of Medicine he quit the job & established the Calicut Unani Hospital and Research Center in I997. The hospital was started on OPD basis and later developed to a 10 bedded IPD. Over a period of 20 years he successfully treated approximately 5 million patients the world over. Approximately 100 patients visit his OPD daily & the IPD is also always full.

Being a visionary, Dr. Ajmal realized the need and importance of good quality, effective, safe and pocket friendly medicine for the management of different diseases & established Hermas Unani Herbal Pharmaceuticals company. Spread over 20,000 sq. feet Hermas Unani is the first GMP and ISO-9001-2008 and Halal certified company in south India, where 400 Unani herbal medicines are manufactured from raw materials. Dr. Ajmal has emerged as a pioneer in the formulation of pediatrics herbal formulations. These are manufactured at his company for the first time and can be safely prescribed for the various common pediatrics ailments. He has been regularly exporting the medicine to various countries and thereby contributing to India's economic growth. He wrote the therapeutic as a ready reference for Unani Physicians.

Dr. Ajmal, after his resounding success on both his ventures could not be stopped. He felt the need of quality raw materials. Taking advantage of the geographical location and suitable climate for the cultivation of medicinal herbal plants, he started cultivation of medicinal plants at his plantation. This plantation is dear to his heart and he calls it "Hermas Valley".

Satellite Centers: "Herbs and Hakim-Unique Unani Regimental and Research center" - A dream come true, has been established at various states of India.

Dr. Ajmal is a visiting doctor at UAE. He visits regularly at Al-Lulu Medical Center, Lulu Center, Sharjah, Rolla UAE. He not only treats the patients at UAE but as a mission to popularize the Unani System of Medicine he gives radio talks on Radio Asia, UAE. He also conducts regular Mehfil –e-tib (gathering of Hakims), a platform for traditional hakims to interact and fruitfully exchange their knowledge.
